Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is an all-male ballet troupe that parodies the convention of the classical ballet. The professional company performs faithful renditions from the classical genre with the male dancers portraying both male and female roles. And it’s not just about the laughs the performers bring to the ballets. Part of what makes the troupe so funny is that every bit of physical humor, ridiculous staging or arched eyebrow the “Trocks” execute is done while dancing pristine ballet. In some cases, much of the original choreography from a classic work is kept, but it’s the more nuanced notes in the performances that make it look suddenly funny. The fact that men dance all the parts – heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, romantic princesses, or angst-ridden Victorian ladies – enhances, rather than mocks, the spirit of dance as an art form. Even the most loyal ballet enthusiasts will find themselves amused and amazed by the Trocks.

HERE COMES THE SUN is an extraordinary musical celebration of a decade of Beatles music. Not an impersonation act, this five-person band of multi- instrumentalist/vocalists from Broadway, Lincoln Center, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra create a fresh, vibrant, and one-of-a-kind concert experience that celebrates ten years of music from the Fab Four. Why five performers when The Beatles were obviously a famous foursome? It takes the skills (and instruments) of all five members of HERE COMES THE SUN to authentically recreate the deep textures and variations of these musically sophisticated soundscapes! Singing “She Loves You” to “Sgt. Pepper’s” and “Tax Man” to “Let It Be,” this authentic group foregoes the wigs and costumes to focus on what’s most important: the MUSIC! HERE COMES THE SUN recreates this deeply-layered and multi-textured creative period using the combined efforts of five players switching between various instruments in a modern rock-and-roll experience! Raindate Friday, 6/7/24, 7pm. This special concert features the jazz sounds of the 50’s, and the soulful sounds of the 60’s.  We pay special tribute to Nat King Cole, whose smooth and well-articulated vocal style scored him numerous hits, with songs such as Nature Boy, Mona Lisa, Route 66, and Unforgettable.  His popularity paved the way for the iconic 60’s artists that would follow him, like The Temptations and The Four Tops.  With hits like My Girl, The Way You Do The Things You Do, Get Ready, Just My Imagination and Can’t Help Myself, their blend of soul and funk made Motown the most successful record company of their time, and helped to create a thriving music community. Additional special tributes to Tina Turner and the ladies of Motown! Must reserve your seats in advance by calling 718-631-6311. Sponsored by Councilmember James F. Gennaro.
